Proficiency Exam prep class

Great for high school students, college students or adults who have studied Japanese and want to prepare for an exam such as SAT II, AP Test, or JLPT (Japanese Language Proficient Test).  We will focus on listening comprehensions, Kanji reading, and reading comprehensions.  You will have homework in this class. 

Refresher conversation class

This class is for people who have learned Japanese at high school, college or by being in Japan. Solid knowledge of Japanese is required.  We will focus on age, gender, and situation appropriate languages for effective communications. 

FALL SEMESTER:      9/14/09 to 1/25/10     No class on 12/28/09 and 1/18/10

SPRING SEMESTER: 2/1/10 to 6/14/10    No class on 2/15/10 and 5/31/10

FALL SEMESTER: Monday August 24, 2009 at 6 pm in Buddhist church classroom, Orientation follows at 6:30 pm

SPRING SEMESTER: Monday January 11, 2010 at 6 pm. If you are a high school student, you and your parent must be interviewed with staff at the time of registration on Aug. 24, 2009 for Fall, and on Jan. 11, 2010 for Spring semester.

Exam Prep





Minimum 7 students per class.

If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, tuition will be refunded on the first day of the class. There will be no refund for “no show”.

 If you know some Japanese, don’t wait for next semester.  You can join an ongoing class any time as long as there is a room.

TEXTBOOKS: Please bring your textbook to the first day of class.

Intermediate levels: Japanese for Busy People vol. 2 (Revised 3rd Edition)

Advanced and Refresher: TBA by teacher

Reading/Writing Kana: Japanese for Busy People Kana workbook

Reading/Writing Kanji: Basic Kanji Book vol. 1, vol. 2

Exam Prep: TBA.  Please bring your current textbook on the first day.
