Last week, I went
to Arco Arena to see Kings game. I was really impressed with Chris Webber’s
hustle play. A couple of weeks ago, his play was terrible …missing passes,
missing free throws and even missing Dunk shots.
Maybe he thought
if he’s not doing well, Kings’ fan will be disappointed and so he tried too
hard.
I hope he will
keep doing well, and I hope the kings win even more.
Today I want to
talk about my sob story. Maybe I shared my sob story before.
In August, Rev.
Bob and I attended a Conference in
Rev. Fujimoto asked
me “Rev. Kaz, can you make the DVDs for us?”
I said “Yes, yes.
It is easy for me.” Because, at that time if I made DVD’s it would be just 60
copies for the 60 BCA ministers. So, I estimated I would need to work for only
10 hours. Maybe just 2 days to make the copies.
Last month, Rev.
Fujimoto asked me “could you finish the DVD’s by December 10?”
I said “no problem”
Later, Rev. Bob
asked me “Can we see all of the video contents?”
I said “no. I
edited all the lectures to 1 DVD. I cut and delete most of videos. It is like a
digest DVD”.
But Rev. Bob asked
“can you copy all lectures and put them an DVDs?”
I answered “Technically
yes. But we need more than 120 Blank DVDs”
Rev. Bob said “Great.
And also can you make DVD for the assistants”
I said “How many do
I have to make?”
Rev. Bob said “About
30”
I calculated a
total amount of DVD and said “we need total 270 blank DVDs!” Then Rev. Bob
smiled “Ok, I’ll pay”
Do you imagine 270
blank DVDs? Some of you know it is takes 10-15mins to copy one DVD. Now let’s calculate!
270 DVDs X
12minutes average = How many minutes? 3240minutes... Wow. We can make 1080
instant cup noodles. How many hours? It took 54 hours!
I used 2 computers
to make DVDs. So, copying was easy. But, I was not able to leave from my computers
side. You know why? When a computer finished copying a DVD, I had to eject the copied
DVD from the computer and insert a Blank DVD into the computer every 10
minutes. Copying a DVD is easy, but exchanging DVDs needs man power.
Anyway, I had to
finish 270 DVD copies by Friday for Rev. Fujimoto. So, last Sunday I worked
until 4 AM…then 5 hours later, I attended our Bodhi day service.
I always say “OK.
No problem.”
But, I had lots of
problems trying to copy the DVD.
I think that we always
to try to do everything well.
But we should not
overwork. Sometimes being overworked does not produce good results.
Shakyamuni tried
hard to attain enlightenment, but realized this was not the best way.
Later he said “and
taught we must follow the middle path…
For me, copying 270
DVD was an excessive project.
Next time, if someone
asks me to make 270 DVDs, I’ll say “please give me 1 year to make them”
